OLQP MUSIC NOTES

2011-2012

TALENT SHOW: Auditions have taken place for the Talent Show. There are still a couple of acts I need to see. Please remember that costumes must be modest and conservative. If you have any questions feel free to contact me at 377-0232.

SOUNDS OF PEACE CHOIR: On Wednesday, May 2nd, the choir will perform for the Community 55 Luncheon at 12:45 p.m. The program, “Shake It Up!”, will highlight our drums and other percussion instruments. They are to wear their Choir Shirts and Khakis or their skirts. On Sunday, May 6th, the choir will lead the First Communion Mass for our Second Graders. On Friday, May 11th, the choir will perform during the Talent Show. Finally, on Wednesday, May 16th, the choir will bid farewell to our graduates by leading the Graduation Mass.

EIGHTH GRADE: Eighth graders are learning about “The British Invasion” of the 60s. Right now we are studying the Beatles and will be watch “A Hard Days Night” which gives a great insight into Beatlemania and the 60s.

SEVENTH GRADE: Seventh Graders have been studying Big Band Leaders of the 30s and 40s. We are reading about Benny Goodman now and will watch “The Benny Goodman Story” which will highlight much of what we have read.

SIXTH GRADE: The Sixth Graders have now moved into the Romantic Period of Classical Music. We are watching the film “Liszt’s Rhapsody”.

FOURTH GRADE: Fourth Grade is preparing for their recorder section of the Talent Show on May 11th. They were given practice CDs to work on over Easter Break. They are coming along well.

THIRD GRADE: Third graders are finishing their drumming unit along with Kindergarten.

That just gives you a bit of the highlights in music classes right now. If you have questions regarding anything we are working on in classes or the Talent Show, just ask.

As always, if you have any questions, feel free to call me at school, home (377-0232) or cell (973-8114). You can reach me by email at school, or at HardenHall@gmail.com.
