Marcella (Marky) DiPaolo was raised as a farm girl in Moro, Illinois. She was one of six children and went to Edwardsville High School. She is married and has four children. She and her husband, Bob, also have four grandchildren. She went to SIUE to get a BA in Elementary Education, completing the degree in 1981. She later returned to complete a Masters in Elementary Education with a concentration in mathematics in 1986. Mrs. DiPaolo has taught in the diocese since 1981, spending the first 25 years at St. Kevin in East Alton. In the past, she has been active in extracurricular activities for students such as coaching sports and sponsoring the student council. Mrs. DiPaolo has been recognized for her years of teaching efforts with recognitions such as Wal-Mart Teacher of the Year, Excellence in Teaching Award from SIUE, Who’s Who Among American Teachers, and the National Honor Roll’s Outstanding American Teachers. Outside of her love for teaching, she likes to watch sports, read, and baby-sit for her grandchildren.
